Tech Fix Live 2026: Raising the Standard in the Bay
This year at Tech Fix Live, technicians came together to sharpen the way they think, diagnose, and approach their careers.
Across two days of theory-based training, sessions covered everything from scan tools and EV systems to professional standards and the mindset it takes to keep growing in the bay.
The goal wasn’t just to add more technical knowledge. It was to help techs approach difficult problems with more confidence, make better use of the tools already available to them, and continue raising the standard of their work.
Better Diagnostics Start With a Better Process
A major focus of Tech Fix Live was helping techs move away from guesswork and toward a more consistent diagnostic approach.
Sessions with trainers like Andrew Fischer, Eric Walker, David Finch, and more dug into the tools and thought processes techs use every day, including fuel trim, oscilloscopes, factory diagnostic platforms, diesel systems, scan tools, and programming.
Across those sessions, the focus stayed on how technicians gather information, interpret what the vehicle is telling them, and work through unfamiliar problems logically.
Whether the topic was scan data, waveforms, programming, or diesel diagnostics, the goal was the same: give techs a stronger process they can take back to the bay.
Learning Continued Outside the Classroom
Not every takeaway at Tech Fix Live came from the front of the room.
Between sessions, techs had the chance to compare experiences, talk through challenges, ask questions, and hear how others approach the same kinds of problems in their shops.
Those conversations added another layer to the event. Different backgrounds, specialties, and ways of thinking gave techs the opportunity to pick up new perspectives from each other, not just from the trainers.
Sometimes hearing how another tech approaches the same problem can be just as valuable as the session that sparked the conversation.
Being a Great Technician Goes Beyond Fixing Cars
Technical skill matters, but it isn’t the only thing that moves a tech forward.
Across the sessions at Tech Fix Live, technicians were challenged to think beyond the next repair order and take more ownership of their standards, attitude, career, and future.
Being a professional means more than knowing how to fix the vehicle in front of you. It means continuing to learn, taking responsibility for the quality of your work, staying resilient when the job gets difficult, and recognizing the value you bring to the shop and the industry.
This gave Tech Fix Live another dimension beyond diagnostics and technical training: a reminder that becoming a stronger technician also means continuing to develop the person doing the work.
