Patrick Murray

Shop owner and Shop Fix Academy Lead Coach

Patrick Murray is one of three Lead Coaches at Shop Fix Academy, bringing nearly two decades of hands-on auto repair industry experience...

As employee number one at his own shop, Patrick helped build the business from the ground up, giving him firsthand insight into what it truly takes to grow, scale, and sustain a successful operation.

Patrick has been involved with Shop Fix Academy for nine years — first as a member implementing the strategies inside his own business, then as a coach for five years, and now serving as a Lead Coach for the past two years. His journey from member to leadership gives him a unique perspective: he doesn’t just teach the process — he’s lived it.

Specializing in strategic growth through systematic optimization, Patrick works closely with shop owners to identify bottlenecks, increase profitability, and build businesses that operate with intention and clarity. He’s especially known for helping owners tackle the hard conversations they’ve been avoiding — whether with employees, partners, or even themselves — because he understands that real growth requires both operational excellence and personal leadership.

Patrick’s mission is simple but powerful: to make as much impact as possible by helping small business owners build profitable, sustainable shops that don’t consume or destroy their lives.

Ryan Hillenbrand

Shop owner and Shop Fix Academy Lead Coach

Ryan Hillenbrand is a second-generation shop owner with a mind for engineering and a heart for leadership...

With a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, a minor in Physics, and an MBA in Marketing and Innovation, Ryan blends technical depth with strategic vision.

He owns four successful auto repair shops in the greater Cincinnati area and has led his company through a season of rapid expansion since 2017. Through the inevitable highs and lows of business ownership, Ryan has stayed focused on what he believes are the true drivers of long-term success: the three P’s — People, Product, and Profits — always in that order.

Ryan brings real-world experience and a no-fluff approach to coaching. He knows what it takes to scale a business while developing leaders, building strong teams, and protecting profit along the way. As a Shop Fix coach, he helps owners cut through the noise and focus on what actually moves the needle. With more stores on the horizon, Ryan continues to push for growth while staying rooted in his values and vision.

Brandon Peavy

Shop owner and Shop Fix Academy Lead Coach

Brandon Peavy brings a unique blend of emergency service leadership and business acumen to the automotive industry...

Before entering the repair world, Brandon spent 15 years as Chief Operations Officer for a regional EMS agency, following a distinguished career as a firefighter and paramedic.

In 2005, he founded his own ambulance company, which expanded across three regions and employed over 75 people at its peak. Today, Brandon owns five thriving automotive repair shops in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and is on track to generate over $9 million in revenue in 2026.

In addition to his automotive businesses, Brandon owns and operates, alongside his wife Kasey, a successful urgent care center as well as an aesthetics and wellness company, continuing his long-standing commitment to serving his community through both healthcare and business leadership.

As a Shop Fix Academy coach, Brandon is known for his sharp operational insight, team leadership, and ability to scale businesses with clarity and purpose. His background in high-pressure, high-stakes environments has equipped him with a unique perspective on systems, efficiency, and team performance. Outside of work, Brandon is a proud husband and father of four, with children ranging in age from toddlers to teenagers. He thrives on building strong teams, both at home and in business.
