Fred Young

Fred Young is the proud owner of a second-generation shop in Sturgeon Bay, WI, originally founded by his father in 1969. His journey began early, at just 11 years old, working alongside his dad and learning firsthand what it means to run a shop built on trust, skill, and community.

After graduating from Motech Automotive School in Livonia, MI, Fred spent seven years sharpening his skills in Detroit, including time at a Dodge dealership and in the prototype industry. In 2002, he returned home to carry on the family legacy, officially taking over the business and leading it into its next era of growth.

Fred joined Shop Fix Academy in 2019 and began coaching in 2023. With over four decades of industry experience, he helps shop owners stay grounded in their values while scaling with confidence and clarity. Fred married his wife Shawna in 2016, is the proud father of two daughters, and a grandfather to four. Whether in the shop or on a coaching call, Fred brings steady leadership, technical depth, and a heart for helping others build something that lasts.
